ford escort 1990 lx.. with only 52,000 miles on it.. 1.9 engine
stalls while driving... fuel pump replaced.. alternator replaced, bought computer module.. threw a bunch of codes ..
so got another computer.. think that one was bad.. this one worked ... then didnt .. then did ..
??? replaced spark plugs.. and other items.. cant remember what it is called..
seemed like it was fixed.. gave the car back to my young daughter to drive her kindergartener to school and it broke down again tonite in the middle of a highway.. not cool
any help .. please asap
my fiancee is a mechanic and been working on this car for weeks .. using a code checker .. and it looked good but as i stated the car broke down and cant get a hold of anyone to help til 1 am

I've seen this situation time after timie.....(1)You are not mechanically savy enough to give us accurate information . And are not equipped to do computer diagnostics. I am just stating a fact , not putting you down. I'm sure your doing the best you can. HOWEVER......(2)Since multiple households are depending on it , instead of just throwing expensive parts at it and not knowing if its fixed or just having a good day, bite the bullet and find a small local shop that checks out with the BBB. Have them do diagnostics and replace anything over your head and you can do the stuff like airfilters etc. You will save money in the long run and have a dependable car. Maybe the daughters husband can pitch in on the dirty/heavy stuff . (3)At least where I live , many churches and civic groups will help or even pay all IF a certified shop does the work , they figure it less costly to keep you able to work than let you suffer grounded..Please ask around. I did my share of pro bono work when I had my shop.I wish you the best of luck.

myself i am not savy enough.. fiancee yea he is .. but not here
he is a diesel mechanic and does work on many cars too
does have a computer diagnostic hand held meter .. and it looked good ..
let her drive it and it broke down again ..
put it this way .. he can take apart a transmission and an engine and put it back together no problem but this car is kicking his butt ..

If its any help ,check and see if fuel is being squirted out of injectors . Take a plug wire off . insert a screwdriver in boot ,hold near eng metal .have car cranked and look for spark. at least you may be able to see if its fuel or ignition.

Once you start messing around with used computers all bets are off. No one has any idea if you even have the correct computer or if it has been flashed to the right vehicle. Nobody is going to want any part of trying to figure that mess out at this point.
