1990 Chevy Beretta Strange noise when Rpm's Decrease Sign In

I own a 1990 Chevy Beretta 2.2L 4 Cynlinder and it has been running fine until yesterday. Apparently i rev'd the engine to high and ever since then whenever the rpm's decrease there is this odd noise it makes (similar to that of when you put your finger on fan blades to slow it down) if that makes any sense. But it's only when the rpm's decrease not when they increase. I'm thinking it could be a cylinder/piston skirt possibly but I'm not positive. If anyone knows or has any ideas what this could be I would greatly appreciate any and all ideas or advice! -Brett
