1990
Buick
Regal
Engine size (How do I check this?)
Mileage (Will get this tomorrow, it is high) though
My car just instantly turns off (no noise, nothing), when my car has stopped somewhere, as in waiting for a light to turn or waiting for a road to clear up to pull into. I took it to a shop and had gotten it "fixed" for $400, they changed some sparks and cords according to my report. It still stalls (though it does seem to run much better), and I don't feel like taking it back to the shop until I am sure what the problem is.

If any more info is needed please ask.

You may have a bad IAC ( idle air control) but try cleaning the throttle body first. Remove the intake snorkel, have someone hold the throttle wide open for you and scrub the back side of the throttle plate and surrounding bore with an old tooth brush and some carb cleaner. Be sure to spray some into the small holes next to the throttle plate. That should help stabilize the idle. If it still has a problem, replace the IAC.

Hammer Time is right in the troubleshooting dept. But may i ask : What did you pay 400 bucks for? Where they asked to fix the stalling? Did you pay for diagnostic time? Did they give you a warranty?Just my opinion , but 400 clams for I assume was plugs and wires on a v6 buick seems a bit high.
