1990, Mazda Astina 323, weird problem Sign In

Hey guys,

I have an old 1990 mazda astina 323, everything has been fine with the car.. I had it serviced recently and it drove nicely. I parked the car outside my street and then went to drive after a pretty cold night.

I let the car warm up a bit and then started driving.. the thermo didnt really go up tho ? .. and as I was driving it would feel like it was loosing power as I was driving .. so it would go from 4000 rpms and then for no reason .. down to around 2000 and slow down .. this would fluctuate from normal and drop up and down as I was driving .. as if it had a mind of its own .. then when I would hit a traffic light the car would sometimes just turn off ... it would turn back on and Id start driving again ..

Now im not sure if theres a problem with my engine heating up ? becuase it is cold here atm and even as I had drove the thermo still didnt go up .. and my car usually gets warm pretty easily .. but its just not that cold atm .. prob lowest would be 5 - 8 degrees ... so its not snowing or anything ...
Ive also checked my coolant, transmission oil and engine oil .. it all seemed fine .. (like I said I had it serviced recently)

Does anyone have any idea what the problem would be and how much it could cost to fix ?? I dont want to pay too much becuase the car itself isnt worth alot and Im a university student so if its a fair bit then Ill have to save for a little while to fix it up ..

thanks guys !
