1989 chevy s10 with a high pitch sound Sign In

I just recently rebuilt a chevrolet s10 four cylinder in my tech school. It is a 2.5 liter 151cid vin code e. I have a t5 borg warner transmission. Earlier i was driving and got the rpm's to about 3 and a half after they came back down a bit of a high pitch wine . The truck runs fine still it had no lack of power and i did not hear any noises before this. it almost sounds as if i have a supercharger on it. i bored the engine .030" and replaced all parts with stock replacements. I took the belt off thinking that it might be my alternator or a pulley but it didnt stop the noise. could it be a spun camshaft bearing or rod bearing??? i want to start with the simple things first but i cant think of anything else that might make a noise like this. if anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, kyle

Hard to say without hearing the noise. What was the reason for the rebuild? I assume you installed new cam bearing during the rebuild. Did you measure tolerances on the cam bearing seats. The machine shop will usually do this for me and install bearings. cam bearing is possible especially since it started after a high rev with a load.

I rebuilt the engine for my project rebuild in my tech school. plus the motor had high mileage. I think all it is after taking a while last night to look and listen. i came to a conclusion that the timing gears are probably rubbing the timing gear cover. this motor was built with all parts being new except the crank and i reground the valves. I also found that it should not be a spun bearing, they normally make a knocking noise not whine. thanks for the help though.
