I have a 1987 olds 98 regency. It starts and runs great for ten minutes, then the engine just stops. No sputtering or anything. It won't restart for another two hours and does the same thing. I've changed the air filter, fuel filter, fuel pump, plugs, plug wires, ignition module under the module the plug wires attach to. No help.

When this happens have you check for fuel or spark? Need to note whats not working during the time it won't start, that would give an idea on where to start, even a bad battery could cause it.

What about the fuel pressure? if both spark AND fuel pump not working its gonna be the MAP sensor/ or the ECM....more than likely its the ECM.

I like the map sensor idea. With engine running I disconnected the map sensor and the engine died. I hooked it back up. The engine ran for 7 minutes. The fuel pressure was 94 psi up to and including when it died. The voltage at the battery was about 14 volts. Timing light showed good strobing on all six cylinders. When the engine died the fuel stayed at 94 psi when cranking but no spark on timing light. I took the map sensor out and put it in the freezer for about 15 minutes. I'll see if it starts when I take it out of the freezer and hook it back up.

Well that didn't work. Still wouldn't start. May still be the map sensor anyhow.
