I have a 1987 toyota celica gt-s recently I threw a rod due to the oil pump going out or possible crack in the radiator I was just wondering what is the chance of a cracked head or blown gasket?

I don't get what you are asking............. If your engine has thrown a rod, who cares if it has a blown head gasket. The engine is already junk. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Rods are usually thrown from the block under high rpms conditions. If it was due to oiling or overheating problems, you should of heard it knocking before the rod flew out. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Did the rod actually come apart or flew out of the block or pan? If you have time on your hands, you could disassemble the engine and do a visual inspection to see what parts are salvageable or to see if the engine is rebuildable. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Well, you won't know what really happened unless you do a visual inspection. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

You might get a view thru a spark plug hole. If you see cylinder wall dinged up do yourself a favor, save time and if you want this car look for a whole good engine and save endless grief, T
