1987 Mazda B2000 surging/stalling	Sign In

Pickup with 130k miles. Just started surging at nearly all speeds. Down on power also while climbing. Won't even take off without stalling until having been warmed up for a long time. Difficult then too.

I installed a rebuilt carb about 60k miles ago and changed the fuel pump and fuel filter about 1000 miles ago. I installed new spark plugs today. No change.

Any ideas? Plug wires? Other ignition components perhaps?

Tune up should include plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Bet you might be finding a junk cap and arced out rotor.

I have now replaced all those things and while it does start easier and rev more freely, the same problem is there. A new coil is $22. My gut tells me it's the carb though....though my gut has been wrong many times before.....
