Hello my name is Daniel, I am from New Zealand.

I recently brought a 1984 fx-sr. 1.6l afe sohc fuel injected. I brought it with the assumption it has a blown head gasket. It blows a lot of white smoke. There is no oil in my radiator or water in my oil. The car will start and idle but it is rough. It has a slight missfire. When you rev it it will not rev and stall or if you rease your foot the revs will slowly build up from 0. It is not the fuel pump or the fuel filter. The cam belt is not worn. I unplugged the tps to see what effect it had to the engine, It ran a little rougher. The MAP sensor is working.

I would just like to know other more knowledgeable people opinions on the matter before I start anything.

Cheers

Dan

It has all the symptoms of a blown head gasket. You didn't mention if it was overheating or consuming coolant. the first thing i would do is remove all the spark plugs and pressure test the cooling system for a good long time and then spin the engine to see if any of the cylinders spit out any coolant.

It hasn't been overheating while I have had it running on my drive (it is undriveable). My tools all got stolen last week sadly, New place and hadn't yet got a lock for our garage :(. As far as I can tell the coolant is fine (although looks like it needs changing), there is also some in the "overflow" reservoir.

OK, so why are you here? You can't do any testing and you think your coolant is fine.
