Check and if not look under distributor cap for troubles. Some engines still had points quite late. I don't think so. I know for fact points were used in some engines right thru 1979! Euro versions mostly. Could not find distributor with points in an 82 Volvo just now but stuff of the sort can really fool you as nobody expects it so late. It can catch you as you don't expect it and the go ignored too long.
