Dear Group, It's been a long time! Finally found a technician who knows how to work on GMC S15 trucks, and had to replace the ignition coil, distributor, distributor cap, rotor, and a few things and runs great! I drove it to Yorktown, TX south east of San Antonio (8+ hour drive) and up to Crowell, TX along State Highway 6 (9+ hour drive) without any let down! OK! Got a serious problem see if anyone knows this. 1981 Ford Granada, 3.3L 200ci Inline 6, has dripping drops out of the tail pipe, flames shooting out the tail pipe, and white smoke billows around the car. David at O'Reilly's suggests it could be out of timing, but when I mentioned the 'other' things, he believes its a cracked head, or intake manifold? A long block with 3 year warranty, no core charge, for this engine is approx $1,890.00 with/tax not including labor to swap it in. This a good deal? The car itself is in beautiful body wise condition, interior is nice plush and clean. Dealing with persistent spiders, but it has a bench seat, no radio, bloodish red seats and carpet.. it sat mostly in an old lady's garage, and her 'grandkids' may have hot-rodded the car. It also needs power brake booster, vaccum lines, and other little things but the major part is the engine. It sat for 5 years, but in way better shape than another 1981 Ford Granada I own. :) It looks to be an old lady's going to church car and shopping at the local store. Nothing much, but want to verify if it could be the cracked heads, or intake manifold? Even so, I plan on saving up for it, and find a mechanic to do a simple engine swap. Thanks! Shalom, Michael D.
