Spray some carb cleaner or starting fluid down the carb while cranking and see if it tries to start. If it does, you aren't getting fuel. If it doesn't you aren't getting spark or something inside the engine let loose. Am I right to assume you aren't running a TBI system from the 89 engine and are instead using a carb? Does it sound normal when cranking the engine? Why did you replace the battery when the engine was cranking over? Are you running anything aftermarket on this, like an electric fuel pump or an MSD ignition?

Yes its a 800 edelbrock carb. Yes it sounds normal. Just cranks over and over. The battery that was in it was bad. It needed a new one. Not sure about electric fuel pump or ignition. I just bought the car.
