I have a 1973 dodge dart custom L6 225 cu in .Well i have replaced ignition switch ,ballest resistor,starter and fuel pump i get good fuel flow.My QUESTION is my engine cuts off after i turn the key away from the start position as long as i hold the key in the start position it will stay but when i let go it dies .what could be the problem im tired of wasting money.Thank you.Mad

Still show a ballast resistor despite 1973 being first year for electronic ignition for Mopars. Should look like this.........



Mounted on firewall and wiring to it may be damaged?

Keep holding starter engaged and you'll either bust the teeth on flywheel or need another starter. This smacks of no power to distributor when you let go of the key. That resistor gave ignition full voltage just during cranking then lowered voltage for running. Bet it's bad again,

I know you said you changed the resister but I have seen dozens of those old Chryslers act that way with a bad resister. You really need to do some testing to determine if the ignition switch and wiring is doing what it's supposed to.
