OK I have an 06 ford E250 with the 4.6 with 235 thousand on it what lead up to today. jan 13th went and put gas in it. it stalled just reaching the pump. went to leave started but stalled with in 25 feet. started again but would not stay running. got the hood up air intake boot had come off at the filter unit on the engine side. when back on it started and seem to run fine. now have a miss like one cylinder is not firing. as well as noticeable loss of power. when I pulled in the driveway tonight I took a quick check under the truck. driver side converter was glowing fairly bright. P/s was normal as of yet no check engine light has been seen.other than indication of large EVAP leak this comes and goes with fueling "gas cap?" is it possible a dead plug and the unburned fuel from one cylinder could be causing the converter issue. whats the life span of a converter. all info is welcome thanks

It not only could but I"ll guarantee it did. You have a misfire and you have to determine the cause. This is a coil on plug system and the coils are common failures but make sure the plug isn't cracked.

Not very long if is glowing red.

Don't understand Ford and their misfire detection systems. You could have a dead hole and no check engine light, then you have to go playing around in mode$06 because they don't have pids for misfires. To even see it in mode$06, the misfire monitor has to be enabled and you have to drive it around (WTF!). Thank goodness for the power balance test on IDS and some scanners and/or the access to fuel injector connectors.

what is also weird on this OPs truck is that 2005 and up they got smart designed the system so it would kill injectors for cylinders that were missing if it detected a catalyst damaging misfire(s). What happened on this truck that would cause the system to not protect the cat? <rolls eyes>

Well, at least you know the misfire is on bank 2.

ok got a slow start in to it today and after a bit of checking, and a bit of deliberation between Me Myself and I and a bit of info from the help here. it comes down to replacement of intake gasket. tested all coils with HEI spark tester. # 6 hole had coolant in the hole. after checking coils and cleaning the plug hole out. it's back to running like it should. for how long IDK. consider this resolved thanks for your input guys

Let me guess......... It's the #4 plug. Rear one, passenger side. The heater hose nipple is cracked.
