Hey guys/gals having a really bad week bumming rides and spending lots of money i dont have to get this car fixed, please help!

original problem was that the car would not cold start crank after it sat overnight, but once it warmed up it would run all day even as i ran errands all day. mechanic replaced bad cam posi sensor and cranksharft sensor and it ran for about a month.

then it happened again this we got the same code and it said bad sensors again. so we replaced the sensors, worked for a day and overheated. it did not blow a head gasket. oil was low, added 3 quarts and added at least a liter of coolant.

the car sat overnight and would not start at all in the am. still getting a bad code for the sensor( the cam posi sensor). new fuel pump was bought because mechanic said that mine was bad. then he slipped and said it was coming on sometimes/ sometimes it wouldnt.

replaced all 4 spark plugs and tested to see if i was getting a spark. still wont start. it will crank but will not turn over. mechanic cleaned the air intake all the way to the throttle valve and still the same. the engine is getting gass and air. it putters like it wants to start but cant.

a friend seems to think i need a compression test? but sounds like bad news. it ither needs a new engine or he doesnt know what it would be if the compression is normal?

any ideas will be very appreciated.

Do the compression test and then ask.

Thank you. Just got off the phone with the mechanic, he was just waiting to find time for the test. Tomorrow morning.
