03 oldsmobile alero changing intake gasket

hey there I was wondering if anyone had changed an intake gasket and if so how hard and what all do you reccomend changing along with it? I am about to go on over a 1000 mile trip and wanting to make sure it is trustworthy. so any recomendations would be very gratful.

I guessing you have the 3.4. Thats a common failure on those and I'm pretty sure that everyone here has done that job......A few times...
Fel-pro & Dorman both have some quality kits that address the gasket problem. You would want to obviously change the oil, coolant & T stat while you're in there. If you haven't done plugs or wires on this....Now would be a great time to do it....
Keep a close eye on the push rods, don't mix them up. The exhaust is about a 1/4 longer than the intake & you'll bend one if you mix them up. They look almost the same to the nake eye, so be careful with them, have a system.
Torque everything to specs. There is a reassembly problem with the rocker arm bolts. If they are overtorqued they can & will crack the threads & pull all the way out. A good trick is to not even take them off, just use a 12mm or 1/2 crows foot & racheyt, lift the rocker arm with the crows foot and remove the pushrod. Reverse to reassemble.....
Other than that, it's pretty straight forward. If I've forgot anything (that's a safe bet) I'm sure someone will jump in with the info......
