Car: 2003 Mazda Tribute 2wd 6cyl Issue: -Car will over heat while driving after 3-4miles from cold. -While driving the heater will produce hot air for a short time then it will begin to blow cold. -Shortly after it starts blowing cold it begins to quickly over heat. -Coolant has been released from the pressure release in the overflow. Checked/Replaced: -Water pump belt was worn and was replaced. Other belt in working order. -water pump pulley is moving with belt. -Coolant is full. A small amount of coolant remains in the overflow tank after cooled. -No leaks in the system found. -After the car has overheated the upper hose is under pressure and is very hot. The lower hose has no pressure and is cool.

Either you have some air pockets in the system or you have combustion gasses getting into the coolant system. Might want to check for a blown head gasket. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
