03 Bonneville dies while idling/driving Sign In

Yesterday I purchased a 2003 Bonneville with 128,000 miles from a kind, elderly, small-town dealer. He bought it at auction and had no history on the car. It has a 3.8 L engine. Test drive was good. Loved the ride, and it seemed like a fair price. Of course, I bought it AS IS. Just as I was saying "goodbye", the car died. He said, "Looks like it died on you." Today, the car had a little difficulty starting. It cranks just fine, so I'd think the battery is good. It also died on me twice, once while idling, and once while driving. I had stopped at a stop sign, then began to accelerate when it died. I'm so leery about taking it to the GM dealer in my town since I haven't heard anything positive about them and don't think I'd get honest answers. Any ideas? Thanks for your time! Kathryn

PROBLEM RESOLVED: FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR. Thanks for your input!

Theres many things it could be.
Any without and information i couldn't even start to give you answers.
I would take it to a shop, doesn't have to be a GM dealer just any good shop will be able to tell you whats wrong with it.

dose it just suddenly die or does it spit and sputter then die?
if it suddenly dies do your electronics go dead (ex: lights on cluster, anything running off power)
check engine light on when running?

I know there known for ignition modules, could be fuel pressure related.. you really need to figure out whats missing when it acts up fuel or spark.

When its hard to start or won't start check for spark
if possible rent a fuel pressure tester (you can get this through a borrow a tool program through your auto part store) and test the fuel pressure when acting up(if possible).
