My Wife's '02 Mazda Tribute V6 Starts but will not idle. This seems to occur once a week or two. This seems to occur on days that have been humid and only when the engine is cold. Once it gets up to temp. the problem goes away. I have had it at a dealer and at a local shop and all they told me was that they cannot duplicate the problem. Since the problem started I have had the plugs changed (They were due) and the throttle body cleaned.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is my wife's car and I am getting tired of the phone call at work saying "It won't start again! How am I going to get the kids?" Anyway I digress. Thanks in advance.

If the problem is humidity, suspect the secondary ignition system. Replace the ignition wires as the insulation may be deteriorating and retaining moisture. The moisture will cause the spark to short to ground and not reach the spark plugs.

Steve,

Thanks for the advice but the '02 Tribute does not use standard plug wires. Each plug has a coil that is controlled by two small wires connected to the electronic ignition system.
The Actual engine is the Ford Duratec 3.0 L V6.
