02 Honda CRV Engine Rattling and Dies on Idle Sign In

I have a 2002 Honda CRV (2.4 L DOHC) with 178K miles that has recently started having engine problems. I bought the vehicle used 5 years ago and haven't had anything done to it other than tire and oil changes. (sadly no routine maintenance done either - no trans flush, no spark plug changes, no injector maintenace, nothing) About a year ago the engine power would randomly cut in and out and would die at idle, but would be fine later that day. It wouldn't do this again for a few months. Recently it happened the same way, but didn't stop. Got the vehicle home but the next day it had a rattle in/near the engine and wouldn't stay running without being at higher RPMs. As long as I keep the gas going it will stay started but is very rough. It has been loosing oil more and more each month and I can see some oil leakage around the sides of the engine. I always just add more oil and keep going. At one point in time I had a oil change place get the "check engine code" which said something might be wrong with the converter. I pulled the cover off the fuel injector area to find what looked like a rats nest of fuzz and paper and a chewed wire. The wire was one of four that were bolted to the engine (ground wire?) so I can't imagine it would cause any problems. I rewired the chewed wire but didn't change anything. The engine oil did get pretty low once,.. but the rattling noise sounds too high pitch (like tapping) to be engine damage, but I am far from an expert. Could this be something simple? Converter? Fuel injectors? Bad spark plug? Sensor problem? Fuel pump? Here is a YouTube video of the sound it makes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKEinbEGji4
Any help would be appreciated.

In the video it sounds like you have timing chain problems. Could be bad guides or the tensioner isn't pumped up for some reason.

Honda is a MAP sensor engine, so if you have vacuum problems from a mechanical problem in the engine, it will run bad.

Would the timing chain cause such a tapping noise? Is there a way to track the sensors to tell where there may be a problem. Last time I had it checked the only codes were saying something was wrong with the converter I think. I suppose I will end up bringing it to someone,.. but wanted to troubleshoot as much myself as I can. Also,.. when it comes to that point I will have to find a way to get it there. I can drive it but its really rough and I worry that I may do more damage. Thanks for the help!

Listen to the noise in the video (after warm up).

You could have the vehicle towed.
