Hi,

I have a 2001 GMC Jimmy that has been stalling when I am low on gas and the vehicle is slowing. I also noticed it does this more often when the vehicle is pointing downhill. It has been going on for about 1 year now and it occurs when I have about 1/4th a tank of gas or less. When it stalls the car will start right back up when I turn the key. Later, if I fill the gas tank till it is full the problem will completely resolve. I changed the fuel filter after this started and the problem didn't change at all. Any ideas?

Info about my car:
Still has original fuel pump
New fuel filter
4x4
4.3L V6
102k miles

Thanks for your time!

Singe; Are you sure that the fuel guage is accurate? A couple things come to mind; First, GM sending units are a known problem. Could it be that it is progressively getting worse, and you are actually running out of fuel? The other thing is fuel pressure. The 4.3 Vortecs must have at least 55psi fuel pressure to run. I can't figure how the fuel level would affect pressure unless you are picking up air with the fuel level low? Just thinking out loud.
