Hello. I'm working on a 1995 Dodge 1500, gas V8, 4x4 truck, with maybe 200k on it. It is multi port fuel injection. Fairly new battery, and cranks and starts strong, and runs good when cold. I've done a check of the fuel pressure. Spec at 35-45 psi, tested at 40 psi cold and hot. Pump seems good. Spark check tests good. Gasoline smelled stale and owner says the vehicle has been sitting a lot with occasional short distance usage. Bad fuel or water in fuel ?
As I stated, the truck starts and runs good when cold, and then leans out(with pinging/pre-ignition) as it gets warm...to the point where it will stall, or not restart, until it sits a little while. What should I do/test next ? I'm thinking of trying some fresh fuel and injector cleaner to see if that will help. Could the injectors be partially clogged ? Thanks.

Is there any codes being set? Besides pinging, what is making you think this is leaning out?
Make sure this isn't overheating & getting too hot & stalling out

Not sure what happened on my above post.
I spent some time with the truck again today. Put some fresh fuel in it, also some injector cleaner and fuel system drier, and let the engine idle until warm. I had a timing light on it to see if the ignition system was acting up...seems OK. The engine never went outside of the safe operating temperature range, and no steam/boiling over etc. Ran good until warmed up. Ping/rattle/sputter/die.
I got the codes. (12 / 37 / 55). 12- is Battery disconnected within last 50 key on cycles. 37- does not seem to exist.(Haynes manual) 55- End of message code.
When I tested the fuel pressure previously, the fuel pressure was good (40 psi) when cold/hot/running good/poor.
I don't like being stumped. Help !

37 TCC unlock solenoid
An open or shorted condition detected in the torque converter part throttle unlock solenoid circuit (automatic trans).
Did it restart after is stalled out? Or did you have to wait a while before it would restart?

What is going on with this forum software ? When I try to use the "quote" function, my typed reply does not show up.
Anyhow. The truck is still pinging and won't start after it warms up. Starts after cool down.

That feature has never worked correctly. We manually type in the code for a quote.
I'm going to insert a picture of what you need to type because if I actually type it, then it will turn into a quote.

brad - Just don't use the quote function unless you figure it out with your device. If it posts wrong you should be able to delete that and try again right away.
I could never know the view you get of the forums. There are THREE at least that I know of one would give you a postage stamp view. Just use "reply" and let people look back if it's giving you fits - Tom

Tom and "Hammer", thanks for the "Quote" guidance. I'm new here, so I need to get used to your system .
While I'm at it...apparently there is no function here to post photo's as attachments...is that correct ? How about links to photo hosting sites ? Since a pic' is worth a thousand words, I would think that Photo's would be a natural part of a forum like this.
Anyhow, back to this truck. I'm thinking that one of the sensors may be sending a bad signal to the computer when warmed up. Or could the Injectors be partially clogged ? Anyone have a thought about a logical next step to test something. I guess I should also I.D. the various sensors and check the connectors.
My summary at this point-I think the Fuel is OK, the cooling system is OK, the fuel pressure is OK, and the Ignition system is OK. If I'm correct, the electrical side of the fuel injection system seems to be all that's left...yet the codes don't seem to match the problem. Nothing like a good challenge ! Later.
