Hi - 2003 Ford Windstar 85K, traction control light and check engine light comes on when you accelerate then stays on. Abs pump with computer replacement is what the ford dealer says $1500 + labor...ouch. Are there any other checks that I could do to confirm that replacement is not the only option - Thanks in advance.

Sure there is if you want to go pay another competent shop to do all the checks that the dealer just did to come to that conclusion. Second opinions are always possible but rarely free. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

This is a very common problem with these vans. Problem is the connector tends to let in water and eventually makes it inside the component. In some cases cleaning the connector and packing with dielectric grease can solve the problem, but 9 out of 10 times it needs a module.
