ABS light has turned on in my 325i BMW

Hi,
My ABS light has come on in my 325i BMW and I wanted to know does this mean i must change my brakes right away or does this warn me about something else I need to do? I no longer have the manual so I'm not sure..

you will have to have it scanned to get the code that set off the abs light,autozone will scan it for free,could be that,or it could be several things,wheel speed sensor,low voltage to abs module etc.
