The neighbor lady has a 2005 Pt Cruiser. She said the engine is "chugging" and seems like it's going to die. Check engine light is on and threw code P0340. I've never had a camshaft position sensor go bad so not sure what the symptoms are. Is it the likely cause of the engine "chugging"? Thanks

Cam sensors are pretty common on those thing. It is mounted right on the end of the head. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Thanks HT. Location was going to be my next question. Seems to be good to go now. I wish all parts were that easy to get to.

Pull the connector off the cam sensor and see if the connector cavity is full of oil. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

I predicted it, I told Tom we would know when you were off the road and back at home because you you find another project. Good to see you back. You do hold the record for most pages in a thread, so I'm waiting to see what this one ends up at.

It'll probably end up with him ripping the transmission out and rebuilding it. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.
