That has nothing at all to do with the fuel pump. The leak detection pump is part of an emission control system that tests the integrity of the fuel tank system. The pump is mounted on tyhe crossmember, under the truck.

Now you're getting way off track with a different problem that will be way beyond your ability as you already were with the leak detection pump problem. It's time to head to a shop. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

Because you don't even know if the pump itself is the problem or not until it's diagnosed properly.

You need an enhanced scan tool, so you can monitor the LDP switch while commanding the pump on. The pump is vacuum operated, so check there is vacuum on the small hose at the pump with the engine running and inspect the electrical harness and connector to the pump. More than likely the pump is the culprit, but testing would confirm it. Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up on your threads when a problem is resolved.

The shocks are easy to do. The struts require a spring compressor, so you can get the strut cartridge out. Suggest that if your going to tackle this yourself you pick up a service manual. The one's that they sell at the auto part stores should be sufficient enough. If the front end is banging around going over bumps, check your sway bar links and bushings. Most the time the bushings get wallered out and the bar bangs around on the cradle.
