window motor wiring

Have 04 Dakota Pickup SLT 4.7 L
Right rear pass. window not going up or down.
Pulled motor out, took gear off, plugged motor back into
connectors, tried switch , motor goes in one direction, but not the other.
Not sure if its the switch or the actual motor. Any way to test either?
Thanks for any help on this issue.
side note: now right pass. front window will not go up or down either,
( two months between both problems so don't think they are related.

Jack; If the motor runs one way, then the motor is okay. If the windows won't operate from the individual door switches or the driver's master switch, it's probably the master switch that is faulty. All of the windows run through it.
You can check the master switch by checking for power at each terminal when commanded.

Thank you Loren !
I'm not a DC wiring specialist.
However,
Motor has 1 red, 1 yellow wire,
Is the motor is grounded via the door metal/frame?
If so, if I apply 12 volts to one wire at a time,
the motor should go ie; red = up; yellow = down
this would eliminate the motor as the problem in both
directions, correct?
Then I would know if it is one of the two switches on pass door or main driver door.

No, that's not how it works. The switch changes polarity for up and down so one wire will be power and one ground for one direction and the 2 wires are reversed for the other direction. The motor doesn't get ground from the body.

Thank you,
That saves me a fried motor.
Does the polarity change at the Driver master switch or at both doors?
Is their a way to isolate which switch is the bitch,

It can be done from either. If both switches have the same problem, there may be a broken wire somewhere.

I already have the rear side panel pulled,
it's switch has 5 wires going into the housing.
Is there a procedure for checking out the switch,
with it off truck?
( side note; 2-3 months time frame between failure of both pass. side switches )

Your going to have to do some testing using a test light that reads both power and ground.
Here is the diagram that you will need.

I think I can make a test light.
Clip, wire, ( possible fuse in between), 12v bulb, probe end?

You can buy one of those for under $10. You really need to be able to see ground also.
