Try leaving door open and look at overhead light when it won't crank - if light goes out it's a bad connection - battery cables both ends (all) and to the starter.

It lights stay bright while no cranking then the starter is the likely problem. A whack with a hammer on the body of the starter may get it going another time or two - watch how hard you whack at what under there!

If this is the starter I think it is there's one bolt that's a real pill to get at to replace it,

the car has plenty of cranking amps. but when the problem acures the dashboard will not lite up or the massage center dose not lite up.it has led dash.with sercurity. so when you turn key to start nothing happens.

I trust it's got the amps - what I'm looking for is a bad connection. If you do as said and leave the door open or just turn on interior light and they go out when you crank or try to then this is a connection problem.

Most dash lights will go out just for the short duration while key is held in "crank" mode and would restore other dash lights when in "run" mode whether it started or not.

Do the test and report back....... Better than that is turn on headlights and have someone else try to start it - they shouldn't go very dim or out,

Frownforget about the bad ground, i took a jumper wire from the ignition switch to solenoid with key on to make engine run . after it runs for awhile the dash cluster begins to work. ignition switch is good.

If you jumped the solonoid and it cranked (using a trigger wire not just by-passing it) then maybe the solonoid itself isn't getting a good connection by it's plunger - that just for the start up.

At this point ALL connections should be cleaned up. 92 Lincoln should be a 4.6 and the starter wiring is in a bad spot and can corrode easily there. Those are a PITA to remove to clean up and might break so put some PB or something on them now!

This has been a while - how are you getting by with this problem??
