turn signal / brake light issue Sign In

Ok - as my name states I am car clueless.. It is a good name for our family because DH isn't much better than I am....Wink

Year of vehicle 1999
Make of vehicle Chevrolet
Model of vehicle Suburban 4WD
Engine size 5.7 (I think)
Mileage/Kilometers 137K miles

So last week - we went to a meeting and noticed the brake lights were staying on. We pulled up on the brake pedal and tried to pull fuses.

I ended up having the auto shop in town here look at it and they replaced the turn signal arm saying a switch was out... ( I think that is what DH said - I was out of town when it got fixed.)

The part wasn't cheap but figured it was worth it since the problem was gone....

This morning DH got up to leave work and noticed the lights were on again. He started the Suburban to make sure the battery wasn't dead. The taillights went off..

When I got up, they were back on again. I can look out and they will be out and then I can look out later and they are back on. I have gone out a couple times to start the thing trying to keep the battery from dying.

The last time I went out, I started it and turn the turn signals on. When I flip it to the left turn signal it blinks fine with no problems. When I flip it to the right signal it blinks once and then starts buzzing and trying to blink.

I called the auto shop and he said he would think on it.... but it didn't sound very promising.

It truly looks electrical but that is about all I know. I hope I have given enough background info.

Any ideas?
TIA
Jen
