My son has a 2000 Toyota 4 Runner Limited V6 with 135,000 miles..
My daughter has a 2000 Honda Accord EX 4 cyl. with 113,000 miles.
Both are primarily maintained by their respective Toyota/ Honda dealers.
Toyota Recommended Maintenance:
The Toyota Spark Plugs (non platinum) are changed every 30,000 miles.
The Toyota rotor, distributor cap and plug wires have never been changed.
Honda Recommends the Opposite:
The Honda rotor, distributor cap and plug wires are changed every 30,000 miles
The Honda still has the original Spark Plugs (platinum).
I checked both their owner’s manuals and the maintenance instructions appear to be consistent with the work performed.
The Spark Plug decision is more or less obvious….BUT
Why are the other ignition parts treated differently?

How is it the Honda still has the original plugs and they aren't on the list? IMO, cap, rotor and wires don't have a mile based life expectancy but should be looked at periodically and replaced as needed. Replacing plugs after a bunch of miles does have a chance of improving spark even when they look pretty good and I suggest original equipment replacements exactly,
