trouble with p0302 code

trouble with p0302 code Sign In

Im working on a 97 Audi A4 1.8turbo with 250000kms. I have an obd code p0302 which is a problem with the #2cylinder spark. I pulled the coil and found a bunch of oil down around the spark plug. I cleaned up the oil from the coil and changed the spark plug for good measure. Ran the car , got the same code(p0302). I know its not the plug so I switched the #1 coil with the #2 coil. Found more oil in the #1 spark plug. Cleaned all the oil out. So just to be sure I took #3coil put it on #2 spark plug ran the car and got the same code (p0302). I then pulled the #2 coil off the spark plug stuck a screw driver in it and ,no spark. So it cant be the coil. So I think it must be the wiring to the #2 coil. With the wiring being the way it is on the Audi does anyone have a suggestion on how i can fix this problem.

No, that's not what it means. It meanns that a misfire is detected in that cylinder but nothing says spark is causing it. It can be fuel delivery or compression also.

The igniter controls the ground side of the ignition coils. That means the coils are grounded by the igniter for coil control and firing of the spark plugs on this design.

Inspect the coil connector and wiring at the coil connector. Make sure the terminals in the connector are tight and the wiring isn't broken underneath the insulation.

Fix the oil leak by replacing the valve cover gasket and spark plug tube rings.

Your going to need a graphing meter or oscilloscope to check for coil primary control to the #2 coil. If you don't have this equipment or access to it, your going to have to take it to a shop that can diagnose it properly.

I couldn't figure out what was wrong, so the owner took it to a German mechanic. He said that the oil in the #2 coil shorted some module. He replaced the #2 coil and replace this module. I don't know anymore thats all I heard from the owner. Thank you for your help
