Ok, so I tried to help a friend diagnos a charging system problem. Oh, this is 98 Galant 2.4L by the way. With the car running it had almost 12v at the battery and the slightly less volts at the back of the alternator. I checked for continuity at between the battery and alternator wires and had continuity across the wires. No blown fuses. So, I put a new alternator in the car. And it worked.......for like 3 miles. Then, the battery light came back on. Now, I'm back to square 1. WTF!!! What is going on here?

Ok, for the handful of people that have actully checked this post out and scratched their heads wondering what could have caused this alternator not to charge. I found the problem today....FINALLY!!!! It was a loose ground wire. I guess it was fine when the car sat still. But then as soon as it started moving down the road it bounced around just enough to robe the circuit of proper ground. I literally tightened one bolt and haven't had another problem with the car all day. Thanks anyway guys.
