tailight problem Sign In

I am working on a 200 chevrolet G3500 van. When I turn on the headlights everything comes on and works correctly, but when i press the brake pedal the passenger side light that is supposed to get brighter just cuts off. Ive already tried to replace the ground but that didnt work. I think i have either a bare wire thats grounding out or a bad connector somewhere. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Remove and replace bulb. While there, bend the contacts of the socket in a little bit so it is a tighter fit. Because it is a double contact globe, when the normal tail lights are on power is going to one contact. when the brake is applied it doubles the power to the second contact. If it is worn or busted. The light will short.

I agree with the Doc; a ground issue, with just this one light being affected.
Does the brake light work for that side when the brake light is the only thing on?
The ground wire for this socket is bolted too “right rear interior, behind right rear wheelhouse” according to the manual.
If this van is a cargo van, it wouldn’t be hard for something to have hit the harness and break the ground wire off.
