With tools, patience and foresight, if you don’t have these then take it in and have someone do it for you.

Re: spark plugs Sign In

the garage wants $300.00 to change the wires and spark plugs. sounds a little stiff to me. What's involved in doing it myself? Plz. advise. Tim

Re: spark plugs Sign In

$300 is at the high end for this job but not out of line either. If they are installing OE or higher quality replacement parts, plus the technician’s time; I don’t think it’s all that far out of line at all.
6 Spark Plugs @ 6.15 each
Ignition wire Set 84.25
1.5 hours @ 80.00
Equals $259.
Plus whatever applicable tax(s); here in Ontario its 6% GST and 8% PST. It doesn’t take long to hit 300 bucks.
Explaining how to change spark plugs is like explaining how to tie your shoes; sure it’s easy after you’ve done it a few thousand times but that first time can be quite a challenge.
