Sorry that I can't suggest much on how to test that out as a good or bad part without just trying another which isn't very efficient or a sensor at the key that just doesn't ever think key is in it?? On the older cavaliers and sunfires it was part of the mall module. This doesn't have one. I worked for GM for 9 years but left before these newer models came out.
