power seat trouble. Sign In

I have a 2004 Ford conversion van w/ power sofa in back. While moving the sofa forward, the tire jack (stored underneath) got wedged between the seat frame and the floor. Something obviously blew because now no power seats work (even front). The conversion fuse box says that the sofa circuit breaker is located behind the fuse box and that it is self-resetting type. The factory fuse box has a power seat fuse that seems intact. Any ideas?

You can't assume the fuse is good. You need to test them with a test light to see if it lights on both sides.

Took fuse to Auto Zone and the guy held it at arms legnth towards light and said it looked good. I'm not a car guy, but even this looked bad to me. Think that's the prob?

Is the power seat fuse for the rear seat or for front seats? Need to isolate that also. Go get ourself an in expensive test light and test both sides of each fuse in all the fuse boxes. The ignition key will need to be in the on position while testing. If the test light lights up only on opne side, replace that fuse with one of the same number and color. Let us know what you find.

The factory manual just says power seat fuse...doesn't specify front or back. There is no fuse for power seats in conversion fuse box so I'm assuming the factory fuse also services sofa. Like I said before I'm not a "car guy, but I'll get the light test and give 'er a shot.
