please help me I am going nuts

I have a 1982 Datsun 280zx 2.8 liter inlinr six-cyl engine My main problem is My fuel pump is not reciving power I checked the pump by conecting it direct to the battery it works fine so I know it is a wiring problem. I have a haynes repair manual but can't make heads or tails of the wiring diagram. Please help I need to know where the wires are supost to go or if I can just run strait from ignition switch. any adivce will be much aprecated At this point I am fustrated to the of blowing the thing up.

Have you located the fuel pump relay?
Are you testing for power at the pump with the engine cranking?
Do you have a test light t test the circuit?
