mazda mx6 alarm wiring

i am replacing the alarm system in my 1992 mazda mx6 because the remote went for a swim in the ocean. i've scored a s/hand 'steelmate 888 2 way lcd long distance alarm' from a mate, but, it didn't come with any installation instructions. therefore, i need any relevant wiring diagrams or instructions, and would also appreciate any tips or advice i can get that will make my job easier, and ensure that the alarm functions correctly when i'm done.
