I have a 1998 CRV that has problems with the remote keyless entry. I can unlock the car and the rear cargo release but cannot lock the car with the keyless remote. I suspect that the problem lies in the keyless control unit but really have no objective way of testing this. Is there something else that it could be? When inside the car you cannot lock the car doors by pressing downward on the lock/unlock button but must actually depress the door lock mechanism itself to lock it. Any suggestions/ideas?

Futile to test one sometimes but try just replacing the PDL relay - especially if more than a four pronged one,

Thanks for the reply. I've looked for the PDL relay on Honda parts lists and can't locate it. Would it be listed under another name? Again, thanks for the advice!

I just look a bit and didn't find anything aftermarket which doesn't mean it isn't there. I also don't have a diagram for this to see how it's wired.

The right term is relay. It might be encorporated in another device but the system about has to use one. A dealer would show something.

I'd say listen for it but this small tick noise will be overwhelmed by the noise of locks working in the direction they do work and it probably isn't making a slight click/tick when it doesn't but no harm in checking. I've found them that way!

Just went thru this with a GM car - no matter what type. A relay to locks was erratic for months, other things checked seemed to work for a day and problem would return. Any testing was futile as it will work in your hands with testing flow but wasn't able to send along enough amps to move locks - sometimes! That's the corker!

Ever have a table lamp that doesn't turn on and you try later and it does? You kind of need to know that the bulb is good. The difference is the chance of all items beyond the switching being bad is near nil so you put doubt in items along the path.

Perhaps someone has a location and pic of it. I'll look again now and post anything I might find,

T
