- We were trying to hard wire the cooling fan straight to the battery, and my friend was testing a wire harness with a test light the next thing we know the truck wont start.what we did to get it running was to poke a cotter pin in the wire harness and use a jumper wire to power up the fuel pump/fuel gauge system. So now to start the truck i have to open the hood and clip the clip to the positve terminal then start the truck. To shut down i have to turn off the key,at this point the engine is still running, but nothing else. The engine wont shut down until i unclip the clip from the battery.Any ideas where the problem might be?Any help please

Check the fuses check the wiring harness closely to see if any wires got damaged... Not sure if this uses fusible links as well...but if so,maybe one got "fried"
