heater fan will not run

pretty long story here so please bear with me. 1998 Dodge Stratus. Ignition switch locked up ended up having to call locksmith to come out to repair. Did not replace switch only repaired what was identified as a pin in the switch. When finished car started so ignition problem was fixed but that was when the problems got out of hand. First started up nothing that required switch on (radio, windshield wipers, turn signals, etc.) would work and was getting a warning light on the air bag. Drove the car about 20 miles and then suddenly most things started working on their own. Except air heater/air blower would not run. Have had the car in several different shops with no help since I cannot afford about a hundred bucks an hour for a wild goose hunt. Still have air bag warning light and no air blower, have checked all fuses, swapped out all relays, have power to fuse block, power at the ignition take off point. Locksmith says nothing he had done could have caused problems so no help there. Air conditioner compressor is working since can feel cold air through the vents at highway speeds. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give.

Unless you are very proficient in electrical work, I'm afraid your going to have to pay someone else to do it. If they know what they are doing, then it's just a systematic tracking of the electrical circuits.

Thanks for the advice. Guess I am like a lot of folks right now, short on money and circuit knowhow also. Am 66, have not worked in 10 years due to heart and diabetes problems and cant hardly manage to look under the dash anymore. Thanks a bunch for your help.

With all the stuff that isn't working that worked before, the 1st place I would probably look would be the ign sw, that powers alot of that stuff you've mentioned.
If you have already had it to some shops and told the same story I'm guessing they have already checked it out & confirmed it good...
Nothing against the locksmith but I was just surprised you said he repaired the old one and didn't just replace it with a new one with the way those cylinders wear out. I'm guessing the price to repair was cheaper than the $150 for the new one & to install it......

hammer is right it is a tedious task . however the switch assembly is a seperate part from the lock cyl. here is whats involved if you want to look in to it
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION
Cirrus, Stratus, Sebring Convertible and Breeze
See Figures 1, 2, 3 and 4
CAUTION The Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system must be disarmed before working around the steering column. Failure to do so may cause accidental deployment of the air bags, resulting in unnecessary SIR system repairs and/or personal injury.
- Disarm the air bag system, as described in .
- Remove the left end instrument panel cover/fuse panel and remove the retaining screw holding the end of the instrument panel top cover.
- Remove the instrument panel center bezel.
- Remove the screws that secure the instrument panel top cover to the center of the instrument panel.
- Lift the instrument panel top cover enough to gain access to the knee bolster attaching screws.
- Remove the lower knee bolster attaching screws and knee bolster from the vehicle.
- Remove the lower steering column cover attaching screws. Pull down on the lower cover to clear the ignition key cylinder and key release (if equipped).
- Remove the lower steering column cover, sliding the cover forward while holding down the steering wheel tilt lever.
- Tilt the steering wheel down to the fully lowered position and remove the upper steering column cover.
- Remove the screws that hold the combination switch to the ignition lock housing.
- Place the ignition lock cylinder in the RUN position.
- Insert a small prying tool into the hole in the lower cover and depress the cylinder release tab.
- Remove the ignition lock cylinder from the steering column.

Fig. Fig. 3: Depress the retaining tabs and remove the switch - Unfasten the electrical connectors from the switch.
- Using a No. 10 Torx® bit, remove the ignition switch mounting screw.
- Depress the retaining tabs and remove the switch.
To install:
- Place the ignition switch in the RUN position. Be sure the actuator shaft in the lock housing is also in the RUN position.
- Install the switch, making sure the switch snaps over the retaining tabs.
- Install the retaining screw.

- Install the ignition lock cylinder.
- Install the 2 combination switch mounting screws.
- Install the lower and upper shrouds.
- Install the knee bolster to the lower dashboard panel and tighten the lower knee bolster attaching screws.
- Install the screws that secure the instrument panel top cover to the center of the instrument panel.
- Install the instrument panel center bezel.
- Install and tighten the screw holding the end of the instrument panel top cover. Install the left side instrument panel/fuse panel cover.
- Arm the air bag system, as described in . Check for proper ignition switch and key-in warning switch operation.
Sebring Coupe and Avenger
See Figure 5
CAUTION The Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system must be disarmed before working around the steering column. Failure to do so may cause accidental deployment of the air bags, resulting in unnecessary system repairs and/or personal injury.
- Disarm the air bag system, as described in .
- Remove the steering wheel.
CAUTION When carrying a live air bag, make sure the bag and trim cover are pointed away from the body. In the unlikely event of accidental deployment, the bag will then deploy with minimal chance of injury. When placing a live air bag on a bench or other surface, always face the bag and trim cover up, away from the surface. This will reduce the motion of the module if it is accidentally deployed.
- Remove the hood lock release handle.
- Remove the knee protector.
- Remove the steering column upper and lower covers. Use care removing covers to prevent breakage of the alignment tabs.

- Unfasten the retaining screws and remove the entire column switch/clock spring assembly from the left side of the steering column.
- Remove the mounting screws from the ignition switch and pull the switch from the lock cylinder.
- To remove the lock cylinder, insert the key and place it in the ACC position. With a small pointed tool, push the lock pin of the steering lock cylinder inward, and pull the lock cylinder out.
To install:
- Install the lock cylinder into the lock housing. Be sure the lock pin snaps into place.
- Install the ignition switch into the lock housing. Align the ignition switch's keyway with the lock cylinder and secure with mounting screws.
- Install the column switch/clock spring assembly to the steering column and fasten the harness connections.
- Install the knee protector and the hood release handle.
- Install the clock spring, steering wheel and air bag module.
- Arm the air bag system, as described in . Check all functions of column-mounted switches and the ignition switch for proper operation.

He seems to have a mix of some ignition powered things working (AC) and some are not so I wouldn't be too quick to jump at the ignition switch.I suppose it would be a good place to start though.
