I need to know what size or gage wire the fusible link that goes from the positive battery terminal to the alternator. My alternator and battery are good but when I drive at night with headlights on alternator isnt charging.

If you are real nice Sidom - way2old will loan you his crystal ball

Joshuatree3 - get real. HTF are we to guess if you don't say what this thing is?

My crystal ball says it has nothing to do with a fusible link at all if it will charge at all but not enough.

Try getting the alternator tested and bet you find one of the three diodes in the trio of them is bad, pretty much meaning you would need to get the set and replace them or a new alternator after testing shows it's bad.

Generic examples shown for Delco types,

Re: fusible links Sign In

I understand the question.

The link for the alternator carries the most load of any link in the car so I would say either 10ga (orange) or 12ga (blue)
