flasher making flashing noise while it is not pressed in at any given time

I have a 2001 pontiac grand am gt v6. the flasher switch is making a noise like they are flashing...at will....I changed the flasher ...did not fix the problem. Do you know what could be causing this?

when this happens, are any of the lights on the car or in the dash flashing?
