I have a 1991 ford laser four door manual. A earth wire was cut in half from fan belt, and now i have no tail or dash lights. Have located fuses with starter fuse under bonnet, but dont know which is for tail lights

Earth wire as in ground? Did you repair the broken wire?

Yes it was a black one going across the front of the car to the drivers headlight

We don't have Lasers here in the states, but I believe this is the same a Ford Escort. If that is the case, the tail lamp fuse is located in the instrument panel fuse block.

Been a day so I'll jump in with some ideas. Owner's manuals frequently list locations and what items are on that circuit but if no luck then use a test light when these lights should be on and both sides of a fuse will light the test light - meaning the ones with a scratch awl tip, handle that will light and a wire with alligator clip if not familiar with them.

If this is a fuse one will only light on one side - that's the one. Only use exact amp replacements for fuses. Hope it's just that and not a fox hunt for the trouble,

T
