faulty ignition switch?

Over the past few months every once in a while the starter in my Civic would only crank for a split second and then stop. So I would just pull the key out, put it back in, and try again after which it would start fine.
Today this happened but now nothing happens when I put the key in the Run position. I know the battery is good so is this a problem with the ignition switch? What tests can I perform to indentify the problem?
If it is the igntion switch, is there anything I can do to temporarily start my car so I can drive home!

If in fact the ignition switch doesn't send voltage to the solonoid for starter you could do that with a jumper wire from battery with key in run position it would start.
Warning here!: You must know what you are up to and use a fused jumper wire and quickly remove it when engine starts. DO NOT STAND IN FRONT OF CAR. SET PARKING BRAKE, AND KNOW THAT IT'S IN PARK OR NEUTRAL IF A STANDARD SHIFT. BEST TO HAVE SOMEONE IN THE CAR HOLDING THE REGULAR BRAKES. IF IN DOUBT ABOUT ANY OF THAT DON'T DO IT. KEEP ANY WIRE AWAY FROM WHAT WILL BE MOVING PARTS WHEN IT STARTS,
