electrical problem causing radiator fan to go on late Sign In

Ever since I had my intake manifold gaskets replaced, I had problems with my car overheating. Not to the red zone but 3/4 way up. It was odd because it was actually the mechanic who did the job who noticed the fan not going on, but told me that its normal for my make of car to get that hot. There was another part in the car, I can't remember what he said it was, that prevented the car from completely overheating. I want to say it was the water pump, but that may be wrong. Anyway I had taken the car to 3 other places. All had different opinions. One charged me $360.00 to replace a thermostat. I did get all but $60 of it back, after I found my thermostat still worked. Finally I replaced a fan relay, which made the fan work, but recently after an oil change, the mechanic noticed the car gets way too hot before the fan goes on. I actually thought it was okay, because of what the 1st guy said about my make of car normally getting to that level is normal. The person who did the oil change said it's an electrical problem. I just don't want to start taking my car from one place to another with them not able to fix it but just taking my money. I feel alot has happened to my car after the intake manifold gaskets were replaced. He tore apart my car and alot of things he put back were wrong and I feel he damaged something electrical to cause this overheating. My car was such a good running car before this repair. Now it idles bad and the engine sounds louder and makes all kinds of noise I cant' pinpoint. I think the overheating needs to be priority. I read it can cause further damage to other parts of the engine if it keep overheating. Can anyone tell me what part of the electrical system affects the fan from going on so late? I really need someone has electrical knowledge. Thanks if you can

I don't know of any cars that run hot "normally" - what's with that? The temp sensitive switch to tell fan to come on may be wrong. Out of everything you said you forgot to say what kind of car this is - also what temp is it where you are with this happening?
