door ajar light will not go out

2002 s-type jaguar,
49000 miles
4.0 motor
While out shopping last week, started car, the drivers door ajar message came on. Tried closing again and again, still would not go out. Put window down (drivers side) and put back up, message went away and door chime stopped. Thought everything fine, made a couple more stops no problem UNTIL next morning, problem started all over and has not stopped. Drove the car home, about 75 miles, light stayed on and chime kept ringing and ringing and ringing.
One would think door door switch sticking. No conventional door switch, evidently electrical, and have yet to figure out where contact is made. Would have thought something came unplugged but the way it stopped and started again?
Have tried, disconnecting battery, several times. Have checked fuses. Pushed on door, No change.
Have noted 1) power door locks will not work from drivers door, all others fine and can lock drivers door manually. 2) trunk will open by dash switch and by key remote but not by trunk release button on trunk lid? Worked fine before. 3) All the other doors seem to work fine.
Help!! Please

I don't know this car well at all but in many door switch for interior lights and a door ajar is all on the latch not in the door jam as some other cars would do.
Bet you need to take panel off and plain look to see what's going on in there,
