dome light problems

I have a 1998 CRV that has problems with the dome light. It will not come on when opening the door. It only works if you place the dome light switch to the on position. Any ideas/suggestions as to what the problem may be?

Hey - You are the one with the door lock thing too right? Same fix for both - the relay or the recieving box for the remote which probably is designed to also trigger interior lights when doors are unlocked. My bet is on the relay,
