I have a 1987 Chevy Celebrity

I just installed a new stereo to my car and now the lights don't work in my dashboard. I didn't use any of those color coder you can buy at wal-mart I just stripped the wires and used trial and error. but now the lights to my dashboard doesn't work. I was told that I might have blown a fuse but I don't even know what is what in that fuse box. and I don't know what to look for if there is a blown fuse.

That was a slick move. Be glad it's an 87 as that could have cost you thousands on a newer car!

You still should be able to get a thing called an "interface" that will use the plug from OE radio with your new one OR chase which ones are for speakers, go directly to fuse box and look for empty slots called/labelled IGN, and BAT for ignition and battery. For new radio to remember settings it will need trickle power when car is off and IGN power so it will shut off when you shut the car off.

Now - back to Wally-World and get a test light, spade crimps ends to tap fuse box if wanted and IN-LINE FUSES as back ups so you don't catch on fire!

I guess the $7 harness from Wal-Mart wasn't such a bad expense after all. Trial and error is free if it works, but the problem is how expensive an error is. Next time you put in a stereo, get the proper adapter. Its way faster to install anyhow.
