clicking noise at the kelsey-hayes brake box Sign In

2003 Ford F150 4.6L 4x2
The Kelsey-Hayes brake box is making a clicking noise when the truck is turned off. Is this normal? I have 136,000 miles on it. Seems like an electrical issue because 1 week ago I had to replace the fuselink coming from the battery to the solenoid. Any feedback?

Not normal for it to be making noises with the ignition off. Pull the 50 amp F1 fuse in battery junction box. Does the noise stop?

Why did you replace the link for the starter solenoid?

Did you have the cruise control fire hazard recall done?

Re: clicking noise at the kelsey-hayes brake box Sign In

While driving last week the truck died. I pulled over and it seemed as though the battery was dead I jumped it and the battery lasted about 30 minutes so I thought it was a bad alternator. Still same problem. Took my meter and found no juice going from fuselink of battery to the solenoid. Bad fuselink fixed the problem. Now this. I didn't know about a cruise control recall only recall I knew of was the gas tank hoder rusting out! Still confused about the brake box.

If your not sure if the cruise control deactivation switch recall was performed, you should call your local dealer and see if the recall is open and applies to your truck. All F trucks from 1993 to October 2002 were included. You don't want your truck burning to the ground. Till that is verified you should unplug the pressure switch on the master cylinder. If you have the fused jumper harness installed on your pressure switch, the recall has already been done.

You may have to take it to a shop that can use an enhanced scan tool to access the ABS controller and see what is actually going on and if there are any trouble codes being stored.

Which fuse panel is this fuse in? Should be F1.** or F2.** for location numbers.

It was fuse 23 on the interior of the truck. When I went to the truck just now I'm not hearing the noise. I will take ur suggestion though on the ABS system.

Yep, fuse 23 protects one of the power feeds for the ABS module. Let us know what you find out. Wink
